Mullican offers a complete line that admits Clear, Clear Quartered and Select Quartered oaks, herringbone slats and special species like Ash, Cherry, Walnut, Hickory and Hard Maple. Rustic grades are available.

Their leading products are 3/4″ prefinished solid wood flooring. Plank is available at 3″, 4″, 5″, 6″ and 7″ widths in a wide variety of species and sizes and a wide selection of exotic species. Mullican is also dedicated to forest management and backs up the sustainable, renewable supply of raw materials

In installations, each piece of lumber is pre-dressed to a regular thickness and stickers are laid every twelve inches. The wood is then stacked and slowly dried out. Each piece is straight-line pulled to remove any side bend.

    1. I am nearly finished having our defective, solid oak, site finished floors replaced with the above referenced product. I shopped around for months and was very pleased with the beauty, quality and depth of the Mullican samples I viewed in my home. The lifetime finish warranty was a factor in my decision to install their St. Andrew hardwood. I preordered a sample of the current run to verify the accuracy of the sample color, which was a good match overall. I asked to have the flooring delivered one week prior to the install for it to acclimate. The installation has been uneventful, with a moderate amount of waste. As the installation progressed to the second story of my home, I began to notice small white tufts adhering to the floor, and on closer inspection realized that pieces of the installer’s socks had been snagged by multiple raised pieces of unfinished wood. This warranted even broader close inspection, which revealed inconsistently sealed edges, a large percentage of which were splintering or on the verge of doing so, cracking, splitting, dented or missing pieces of wood that revealed bare, unfinished oak. The surface was mostly acceptable except for a moderate number of small, bare holes, several areas of open grain which the sealer had not completely penetrated, along with some cracks.

Mullican’s warranty does not cover flooring which has any type of noticeable defect or damage if it was installed in spite of the flaws at the installer’s discretion. Based on both negative and positive reviews of this company’s product, I have discovered this is not an isolated incident and advise that if you select their flooring materials, you should hand inspect each piece before it is installed. I have to say I have owned three other homes with prefinished hardwoods, each in builder’s grade, and never, I emphazise NEVER, experienced a quality issue in any of them. I am currently waiting to hear from Mullican’s representative about how to proceed with this incomplete install.
