Every plank of our hardwood flooring is individually hand scraped and distressed to accentuate the close-grained, even texture of the birch hardwood. The rich, dark brown hue and mahogany undertones of our espresso stain create wood floors that exude elegance and sophistication, and 9 coats of PPG aluminum oxide give the wood floor ultimate protection. These hardwood floors are ideal for floating, glue down, or nail down installation methods.

There are many types of flooring that we can use. Even after we have narrowed it down to the material that we want to use we still have choices on what style it should be and the characteristics they should have. One floor that is commonly used is engineered hardwood flooring.

This type of flooring was designed during World War II and became popular among people who started to use them to replace their worn out floors. Part of the popularity came from how they were made and the fact that they were some of the easiest to install. They are also well known to be very durable and are offered in a mixture of patterns and shapes.

These floors are designed with a layer of veneer that is over a layer of plywood, hardwood, and high density fiber. The very bottom layer is something that people never see – but it is important because it gives the entire thing stability. The layer of veneer is quite thick and can be refinished and touched up when necessary.

There are three types of engineered flooring that include; glued, stapled, and floated. Each of these are easy to install – but depending on where they are being used and how much you want to spend will depend on the type that you purchase. The floating type are popular and can be installed over a small pad that is laid down on the sub-floor. It can be snapped or glued together.

Glued floors are laid down using some of the world’s strongest adhesive. Stapled floors are nailed or stapled to the floor in the same way that hardwood flooring is. Though the installations are different depending on the type of engineered flooring that you want they are all rather inexpensive and can last for many years.
